Comeback was made up of four musical veterans who came from some of the more popular bands in the Gulf Coast area. We could play a variety of popular music styles, and our versatility was one of our greatest strengths. We had three good vocalists, and all of us could definitely hold our own musically. Unfortunately, Comeback didn't exist in the day of handheld recorders and cell phone cameras, so there's very little in the way of pics, videos and audio recordings of the band. Thankfully there are a few things, but it's a very limited collection. This was the Comeback lineup: Joey Arata- guitar, vocals Susie Hulcher - bass, vocals Jeff Fidler - drums, vocals Eddie Moore - keyboards Jeff and Susie were a strong rhythm section, Eddie and I put the icing on the cake. And we had a great songlist with a wide variety of jams. We played current popular 80s dance songs, but we also challenged ourselves with more complex jams that set us apart from other area bands. We chose songs from bands like Mother's Finest, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Journey, The Beatles, The Police and Pink Floyd...and because Susie was one of us, we were able to also authentically cover a number of female artists such as Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris and quite a few others. Playing with Comeback was one of my all-time favorite musical experiences...we were tight and precise, played great music and had a great lineup of players! And our soundman and good friend Tommy White did a wonderful job making sure we always sounded our best! I can't remember exactly how long Comeback lasted, but I believe we played together for around two years. I relocated to Florida not too long after Comeback disbanded, and after a few years Susie made her way to the Tampa area as well. In the late 80s, we played together again in the Dallas Bull Band and also in the popular Tampa trio Mosaic, Since then, we've only occasionally jammed together, but it's always a great time!
